Hello. So you want to get started doing a mild hydroxy peel but aren't really sure what you "absolutely need" to have. We get it. Since this is a milder peel you can get away with a bit milder prep than if you were getting ready to do a TCA or Jessners peel. ... but we still want you to have healthy skin so you can get the very best results with your Peel Series!
We carry a variety of acid cleansers. **Acids help to dissolve the build-up of dead skin on your face, giving you smooth, glowing skin! just like you DID a peel. So they are a perfect pretreatment.
Great for normal skin: https://www.platinumskincare.com/revitalizing-glycolic-cleanser-10/
Great for acne skin: https://www.platinumskincare.com/ab-cleanser/
For a super MILD peel like mandelic, glycolic, lactic or salicylic, this can be a bare minimum. That + SPF 50 daily. If you need a full regimen *which everyone really "should" be on, please read on....
Another super option for you to have a good regimen is a retinoid. Do you already have one? Many do. Retinol is one, retinaldehyde is another. Granactive retinoid is another... retinA.. things like that. Fusion A is ours. We combined all 3 of the OTC's strongest.
I suggest Fusion A .15. Star using that 3x per week and add on days as your skin acclimates.
Then have a great moisturizer. Choose one according to your skin type. Do you have one already? If so then you are all set. If not, we have those as well of course.
We already talked about your SPF every day.. so apply that and your day is set.
During the peel:
This is easy. You need your peel, your cleanser and something to strip your skin. We have our Peel Prep A available for you to use. If you did not get that, you have alternatives you can get. 90% alcohol is an option as well as pure acetone.
After your peel you need only one thing:
Something to apply to hydrate and heal the skin. You won't have a lot of "social downtime" with a hydroxy acid peel. So don't worry about that. You will have some dryness and a few flakes here and there. We have two amazing products that we love to use for our after care: Pure Emu Oil or our Essentials Healing Blend. Both are anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and topical wound healers. Either will serve you well. If you have a favorite cream or oil you love better - sure! Go right ahead. Just avoid "active" or "acid" products that can be irritating after a peel and always use SPF when you head outdoors.
