Fordyce spots, also called Fordyce granules, are small pimple-like structures that commonly form on the body. The spots are caused by the body’s sebaceous glands. They’re seen most often on male genitalia, but can also be found on female genitalia as well as on the face. Another very common area is on the lips and inner mouth.
Fordyce spots are easily confused for several other conditions that have a “similar-ish” presentation, such as:
- Sebaceous hyperplasia
- Milium cysts
- Epidermoid cysts
- Basal cell carcinoma
So if you think you have them you should see a doctor first to be 100% sure prior to attempting at-home treatments.
Common treatments are:
- C02 lasers
- TCA Chemical peels *we can help you with this one!
While we cannot tell you the exact percentage of TCA to use ON your fordyce. We would suggest something in the medium depth. The TCA 20 would be a good option. If you find that a lower or higher percentage works best for you.. please let us know so that we can add your suggestion to this page for others to review. Remember we are not doctors and are not giving medical advice.
